To show it what it can be.

I’ve always loved this line. It really shows the growth of Angel, both as a show and a character. Even better, David Boreaneaz is such an awesome actor that he can deliver that line without a hint of ham.

I mean you knew it would be rough just by the virtue of it being Joss Whedon. He loves to destroy well-loved characters, but usually doesn’t leave things quite so open-ended.

No one ever wins when Whedons in charge...

They did follow up with a comic that picks up right after the battle from the finale. But ultimately it felt like 3 seasons worth of ideas all smashed together in a 30 or so issue run (IIRC). Not nearly as fulfilling as I’m sure they were hoping for.

They just need to make a movie to cap off the Whedonverse where they finally get to win.
